Lara Kaepplein/Johanna Goliszewski, who are currently world ranked number 37, lost against Chloe Birch/Lauren Smith, ranked 79th in the world.

The match on Friday was the first meeting between the German and the English pair. The result: The German Women’s Doubles pair lost to their English opponents after two straight games, 15-21 and 14-21.

- We started quite well. It was a good match for one and a half sets, then we were not strong enough to come back. They were in a better shape, Johanna Goliszewski said after the match.

- We struggled with our performance in the last tournaments. So now, we need to step up and have to improve in the next weeks, she added.

Next and last step: Scottland

After being knocked out in the round of 16 at the SaarLorLux Open, Lara Kaepplein/Johanna Goliszewski have one more tournament on the agenda for this year.

The next and last event for the German pair, in this year, are the Scottish Open in the end of November. The two German women know what they have to improve :

- We have to work on our fitness and on doing less mistakes, Lara Kaepplein said.

- We have to be more confident in long rallies, because that is where we are doing mistakes, Johanna Goliszewski added.
