Last year, Rajiv Ouseph lost against Mark Caljouw in the round of 16 in Saarbrucken, today, he was able to win against his Dutch opponent in the quarter-final.
In 2017, Ouseph lost after three tough games to Caljouw at the German tornament, with 16-21, 21-11 and 14-21. On Friday, Ouseph won against the Dutch player after two straight games, with 21-12 and 21-7.
- I tried to learn from that game, Mark played a very good game that day. I wanted to be a bit more attacking and that worked, Ouseph said after the match.
A good start
Overall, the English Men’s Singles player is happy about his performance on court:
- I had a good start. I think the conditions suited me a bit better than Mark, I settled a bit quicker than he did. So, I am happy with how I executed my game plan and am looking forward to playing in the semi-finals tomorrow, Ouseph said.
- Yesterday, I did not play that great. But today, I am very happy with how I played, I felt comfortable on court, he added.
A British-French meeting
Tomorrow, Ouseph has to face Toma Junior Popov in the semi-final.
- He plays very good and aggressive. But I am looking forward to that match, hopefully, we can play a good match tomorrow.
