The Women’s Doubles today in Germany has gotten off to a flyer, with the Stoeva Sisters claiming victory in straight games against their Japanese opponents, Mizuki Fujii/Nao Ono, winning 21-15 and 21-14.

Other wins for the Women’s Doubles this afternoon involve England’s Lauren Smith/Chloe Birch winning in straight games, as well as Johanna Goliszewski/Lara Kaeppelein beating fellow Germans to reach the quarterfinals.

All good for the Stoeva Sisters!

Stefani Stoeva/Gabriella Stoeva have revealed to Badminton Europe, how much they are loving their game on court at the moment, but know that they are capable of much better.

- It went pretty well. We expected a tough match because the Japanese always play well. We prepared well for the match, we spoke with our coach and made tactics. I think it has gone well for the opening match, Stefani Stoeva said.

- It is amazing that we can finally compare with one of the best Doubles in the world, and beat some of them, Gabriela Stoeva added, we need to work hard on doing our job on court and play our own game.

-  We just played relaxed and we did not put any pressure on ourselves. We just enjoy being on court and we are trying to play our best and I think that this is motivating us to work even harder, Stefani Stoeva added.

- Of course, we will be sad, if we do not win the tournament because our targets are really high, she added.
