Day 3 of the SaarLorLux Open has got off to a winning start for Europe with a number of victories in the Men’s Doubles.

Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Emil Seidel was the first pair to pick up a win this morning, coming back from losing at the start of the first game, to taking it 21-19.

Then they managed to keep their opponents from India, Arun George/Sanyam Shukla, from coming back into the match by winning the second one with 21-16.

Other wins so far this morning for Europe, came for the German Double’s countrymen, Raphael Beck/Andreas Heinz, who have won comfortably in straight games against the  fellow European pair, Joshua Magee/Paul Reynolds from Ireland (21-6, 21-12).

Seidel and Lamsfuss through!

The German Doubles pair who have set their aspirations to win the tournament believe they changed their playing style in order to get the better of their opponents in the second round.

The two now go into the quarter-finals and play against the Chinese pair, Huang Kaixiang/Wang Zekang, who have also beaten Indian opponents this morning.

- The start of the match was not good, we were down 1-5 in the beginning, so we had quite a tough start, but we managed to come back and played a good match, Marvin Seidel told Badminton Europe.

- I think we changed our service situation and we knew how they would return the shuttle, so we had to push in the middle and we had to be careful, but we managed to keep the tactics and it worked, Mark Lamsfuss said.

- The next round will be tough against Chinese pairs. If they win so, it will be a tough one. But we hope that we can get through to the semi-final, Seidel added.
