Mads Conrad-Petersen revealed to Badminton Europe (BEC), that having a family at home is one of the most important things to him.

The Men’s Doubles player has a fiancé and a two-year-old daughter in his home country, Denmark, and spends a lot of time away.

The best thing ever!

Conrad-Petersen admits that it is very hard and sometimes a struggle for him personally, being away from his little family to pick up the racket.

The 30-year old stated in an interview with BEC, that he would never change it for anything else despite the difficulty.

- I am lucky to have a very independent fiancé who can do everything, when I am not there. So actually, it is me struggling the most, but it improves every day.

- There are so many fantastic things about that, I would not switch it for anything.

Hard times without the family

Conrad-Petersen was not afraid to admit that he does sometimes struggle to be away from his family, especially when he is in different parts of the world.

The Danish Men’s Doubles player revealed to BEC, that he had to leave his daughter less than three days after she was born.

- My daughter was just two and a half days old, when I had to leave her to go to Asia and play badminton, which was not easy.

- In some ways, I have overcome being away from my family, but at the start it was hard.

A dream-come-true

The 30-year-old is now one of the best Men’s Doubles players in the world, but it was not until he was twenty years of age, that he decided to take the dream on.

Conrad-Petersen who was brought up in the heart of Jutland believes that it was not as easy for him to play, when he was younger due to not being close to centres but always wanted to make a living out of the sport.

- I grew up in Jutland away from bigger cities, playing golf, football and badminton. I always loved everything with a ball or a shuttle.

- When I was very little, nothing was about badminton. It was only when I was 20, that I seriously had a dream to be one of the best badminton players in the world. I am now very proud, that I and Mads Pieler-Kolding have reached this accomplishment.
