Scottish Women’s Singles player, Kirsty Gilmour, is full of confidence ahead of the next two 750 series tournaments, after picking up momentum earlier this year.

Gilmour has the Denmark Open and the French Open coming up over the next month. In both tournaments, the Scottish player intends to perform well.

The highest ranked Scottish Women’s Singles player spoke with Badminton Europe about her participation and performance in tournaments, this year.

Feeling fabulous!

The 25-year-old revealed to Badminton Europe that she is very happy with her performance on court now - something that she wants to continue doing in the future.

- I have started to pick up a bit of consistency in the 500, 750 and the 1000 tour tournaments. I have picked up a couple of quarter-finals which is something that I am looking to do more often, Gilmour said.

-  I want to gradually push up to sneak some semi-finals and build that way.

- I have momentum going into some big tournaments for me, so it is going very well for me on court.

An interesting match-up

Gilmour faces Ratchanok Intanon in the first round of the Denmark Open on Wednesday, and she will be hoping for the recent history to repeat itself after beating her opponent from Thailand, in Korea.

- The Korean Open was a very good tournament for me. I had the consistency that I have been wanting. So, I hope to play against Ratchanok with the same type of level at the Denmark Open.

- I have no doubt that she has done her homework and wants to tighten up on the area that let her down there, but I will be looking to continue to push her and hopefully take another one.

- The top players are not stupid, if they fall to you once, then they will not make the same mistakes again. So, it is really going to be a tough match.
