It was a five-star performance by Denmark’s best and brightest, as all five remaining Dane’s made it into the second round on day two of the Chinese Taipei Open.

Leading the charge was Line Kjaersfeldt as the third seed in the women’s singles made it a comfortable outing over Hong Kong’s Cheung Ying Mei 21-14, 21-10.

After a tight start, Kjaersfeldt pulled away with ease and certainly produced a performance to keep the rest of the draw on watch.

There was more success in the women’s singles earlier in the day, as Julie Jakobsen. This rising Danish star has already one title to her name this year after claiming the Dutch International back in April. The 20-year old looks set on making an impact this week after an impressive 21-15,21-7 victory against America’s Isabel Zhong.

Jorgensen’s prevails in double-quick time

As for one of Denmark’s most experience players, it only needed twenty minutes for Jan O. Jorgensen in his 21-5, 21-6 demolition of India’s Abhishek Yeligar. He now moves on to face Indonesia’s Firman Kholik.

Also joining him in round two was Denmark’s Kim Bruun and Israeli journeyman Misha Zilberman.

Bruun was involved in a tight contest against France’s Lucas Corvee. After edging the first set 21-19, Corvee looked determined to extend the match into three sets. But a strong finish by Bruun took the second set 21-15, and completed the straight sets victory.

It was a similar story for Zilberman, who prevailed 21-17,21-19 against Chinese Taipei’s Yang Chih Chieh.

Completing the fifth and final Danish victory of the day came in the men’s doubles in the form of David Daugaard and Fredrik Sogaard. Despite the best efforts of the home crowd, the Danish pair managed to hold their nerve against Chinese Taipei's Lin Chia Yu and Yang Ming-Tse and progress in two tight sets 23-21, 21-16.
