It took guts and determination for Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Christinna Pedersen to complete their semi-final comeback victory over South Korea’s Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yujung 20-22, 21-13, 21-15 at the Korea Open.

The European number one mixed pair responded well to losing their first set of the tournament to take firm control of the contest and eliminate their Asian opponents. They now move into their third final of 2018 to take on China’s fifth seeded pair He Jiting and Du Yue.

The opening set saw both pairs exchange the lead on multiple occasions. But when Seo and Chae moved into a 15-12 lead, Christiansen and Pedersen quickly eradicated that deficit to level proceedings. However, it was the Korean pair that prevailed and take the opening set.

The second set was looking to be a carbon-copy of its predecessor. But as soon as the set went to 10-10, it was all about Christiansen and Pedersen as they only lost three points after that to take this semi-final encounter to a deciding set.

Both pairs started off well and showed their efforts in wanting to reach tomorrow’s final. However, Christiansen and Pedersen won four points in a row to move into a 12-8 lead and never looked back.
