It was overall, a great day for Europe on day four of the VICTOR China Open with three victories out of five, and one of the best matches of the day!

A day for the Danish Men’s Doubles!

Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen managed to pull off one of the best victories of the day, taking the match to their opponents Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen by storm!

The first game was an easy victory for the Danes managing to take it 21-12 before settling the match in the second with another convincing win of 21-13 against the current World Champions.

The pair will now prepare for a tough match tomorrow against Chen Hung Ling and Wang Ch-Lin from Chinese Taipei.

The Danish Mixed-Doubles – So close but yet so far

Mathias Christensen and Christinna Pedersen competed in the best match of the day against the number two seeds Wang Yilyu and Hyang Dongping.

The match made for interesting watching with both the first and last game being as entertaining as you could wish for.

The first being a 24-22 win for the Chinese before the Danes pulled a game back in the second with an impressive 13-21 win, taking it to a final game.

The match looked over at 14-18 and then 15-20 where their opponents had so many chances to take the win but they allowed the Danes a way in before ending a spectacular match sending the Europeans out with a 26-28 score line.

Fruergaard and Thygesen go out with their heads up

The Danish Women’s Doubles were unlucky in a three game decider against Misaki Matsutumo and Ayaka Takahashi.

Fruergaard Sørensen believes that they are able to match up against the very best but admits they need to be more confident.

Next up for the pair is the Dutch Open and then back to home soil, where they hope to impress at the Denmark Open

- We can compete with the top pairs in the world. We just need to be more confident.

- Next for us will be Dutch Open and then after of course Denmark Open on home soil which we really look forward to.

Marin is one step closer 

Carolina Marin moved one step closer to her first China Open Final after a comfortable victory against the unseeded Gao Fangjie, in straight games.

The first was much more convincing than the second with a 21-10 win, but the second was much closer, but Marin still managed to get the win in a 24-22 tie-break.

The Spaniard has now set up an entertaining match up with the former winner of the China Open Nozomi Okuhara.
