What is making the Belarus International so special this year?

The Belarus International main event starts tomorrow, in Minsk, with the qualification event taking place today in the Falcon Club.

The tournament is being held in the capital as a test, ahead of the 2nd European Games in Minsk of September 2019.

- BEC General Secretary Brian Agerbak: We are very pleased with the set-up for the Belarus International as it gives us comfort that we will also have an outstanding display of badminton at the 2nd European Games in June next year.

- We have sent a strong delegation to Minsk this week to liaise with the local organizing team and also to meet with representatives from the EOC as the European Games Coordination Committee meeting coincides with the badminton test event.


There will be four courts in play all sponsored by Yonex, a partner of Badminton Europe at the event.

Who is seeded for the tournament?

For the men’s singles, Michal Rogalski is the number one seed, and in the top 50 of the European Rankings. Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, Belarus’ Alesia Zaitsava is the number one seed for her category and will look to impress in her home country!

In the men’s doubles, the pair from Azerbaijan Ade Resky Dwicahyo and Azmy Qowimuramadhoni are the number one seeds, while in the Women’s Doubles, Belarus pair, Anastasiya Cherniavskaya and Alesia Zaitsava, who is also performing in the Women’s Singles are the number one seed.

In the Mixed Doubles, Vladimir Nikulov and Anastasiia Semenova are flying the flag for Russia in their category are the number one seeds.
