Jan O Jorgensen had to call on all his experience this morning in Barcelona to eventually see of the challenge of Riichi Takeshita of Japan. The Dane had beaten the Japanese on five previous occasions and maintained that record saving match point in the deciding set.

The Dane won the opening game in relatively easy fashion and looked to be heading to the win leading 14-8 in the second game. The Japanese fought back after Jorgensen let a mid game argument with the umpire get the better of him sending the tie into a decider.

- I should have handled myself better mid-way through the second game. I had a decent lead and I should have seen out the match in two sets.

Game three was tight but at 20-18 the Dane looked to have finally seen off the challenge of Takeshita. Once again a lapse in concentration saw Jorgensen allow his Japanese opponent back into the match with Takeshita winning three points in succession to get himself to match point.

Jorgensen managed to steady the ship and the relief was clear as the Dane turned to his coached is almost disbelief winning the match 23-21.

- It was a match with huge momentum swings but I need to work more on my focus on court to win these matches easier than I am doing. That being said all court time is one step closer to getting back to my best.

Russian pair Rodian Kargaev and Victoriia Vorobeva (pictured above) caused the biggest upset of the mornings play as the Russians beat second seeded Dutch pair Jacco Arends & Selena Piek. The Dutch looked to be on track for the win taking the opening game 21-10 but the Russians completely swung the tied to win in three.

It proved a poor morning for the Dutch as a whole with Robin Tabeling and Cheryl Seinen also on the receiving end of a three set defeat to Scottish pair Adam Hall and Julie MacPherson.
