Badminton today has lost Europe’s most successful player to retirement. However, it is a joyous occasion as Rytter Juhl is expecting a baby. The day also gives us an opportunity to look back on her glimmering career, and what she has given to Badminton.
Of course, this happiness is particularly shared with her partner on and off the court, Christinna Pedersen. With whom she has won 4 European Championships, 2 Bronze and 1 Silver at the World Championships and 1 Silver Olympic Medal from the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first Europeans to ever compete in an Olympic Women's Doubles final. Add to this 5 Super Series titles, and 2 World Tour titles from this year.
As well as Women’s Doubles, Rytter Juhl has had fantastic success in Mixed Doubles, with partner Thomas Laybourn. Together winning 2 European Championships, 1 World Championship and 3 Super Series titles.
All of this adds up to her being crowned the European Player with the most titles.
Happy news
Rytter Juhl has most definitely been part of the Badminton fabric for many years, broken records and gave her fans a lot to smile about. She will be sorely missed by the Badminton world. Although, with her Sports Management degree, we hope to see her soon in perhaps a new exciting Badminton role.
We wish you all the very best in your retirement and beginning a new beautiful chapter off-court. A big congratulations to Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen!
