We are now approaching the business end of the competition in Canada, as players battled for places in the quarter finals.
The Dane Kim Bruun and French Thomas Rouxel continued their strong runs in the Men’s Singles with well fought 3 game victories. Rouxel’s match against Kodai Naroka of Japan was particularly tight with the final game ending 22-20 in his favour. They will join German Max Weisskirchen and Englishman Toby Penty, who is in fact the last seed standing in the draw.

The second seed Mark Caljouw’s run sadly came to and end in the Men’s Singles, when losing 21-20, 22-20 to China’s Lu Guangzu. It has been a long fortnight for the man in form. Staying with this theme, forth seeds Jelle Maas and Robin Tabeling also lost in straight games, 21-13, 23-21, to China’s Men’s Doubles pair of Di Zijan and Wang Chang.
However, Jacco Arends and Ruben Jille had a great result against seventh Men’s Doubles seeds from England, Peter Briggs and Tom Wolfenden. And will now seek to accomplish what their forth seed compatriots failed to do and defeat the Chinese pair of Di and Wang in the quarter finals.
