After the quarter finals session at #ECC18 the big 4 emerged with guaranteed medals and head into the semi finals looking to convert the minimum of bronze into silver or gold.

Primorye Vladivistok took little time ending the run of BK 1973 Deltacar Benatky beating the Czechs 3-0 with Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov getting the crucial third point for the Russians.

- We have lost in the semi final here two years in a row so this year we want revenge and winning is the only solution for us said Sozonov in his post match interview.

The Russians will now play Issy Les Moulineaux in the semi final after the defending champions beat the sole remaining Polish team SKB Litpol-Malow 3-1. The French are the team that beat the Russians at the semi final stage for the last two years and Issy are yet again up for the challenge.

- It is again a big challenge for us as the Russians this year look the strongest. But we have beaten them before and even though we are without some of our top players we want to win as this is our last year in the French top 12 so we will not be back again at the European Club Championships said Gaetan Mittelheisser.

In the final two quarter final matches Calvi Networks BC Milano were taken the distance by Lokomotiva Kosice with Helina Ruutel and Kristin Kuuba (pictured above) the key pair in the final women’s doubles for the Italian champions.

The Italians will now play BC Chambly Oise after the French beat Spanish champions Recreativo Ies La Orden with Eetu Heino winning a valuable point in the men’s singles over Pablo Abian.
