Primorye Vladivostok are one of the most successful teams in the history of the European Club Championships. This week the Russians have a point to prove after being ousted the past two editions by Issy les Moulineaux of France.

Primorye walked on court today and from the outset lay down a definitive marker that they are here to win this year fielding their strongest team in their opening match of group 4 against Recreativo les La Orden of Spain.

- It is of course important for our team to win this week. It has been three years since we last won and this year we feel we have come even stronger to win the title back.

The doubles strength of Primorye is the envy of the rest of the teams this week with Ivanov & Sozonov looking almost a guaranteed point in men’s doubles. Davletova and Bolotova were easy winners in their women’s doubles with Dremin and Dimova equally as easy in their mixed doubles.

The men’s singles may be the Russians weakest point as Pablo Abian (pictured above) beat Gi Hun Han to win the Spanish Champions only point but the Korean took the Spanish number one to three games and could have won the match in two games.

All things considered Primorye look to have the depth across their whole team this year after day 1 in Bialystok and with a 4-1 win over former medallists Recreativo they certainly have the firepower to claim the title for the fifth time since 2012.
