Timisoara will be the host of the 2013 Li Ning Romanian International. This International Series tournament is part of Badminton Europe's Circuit, with a total prize money of 5000 US Dollars. 170 players from five continents and 33 countries have entered this year.

"We keep the tradition of international tournaments organised in Timisoara, the cradle of Romanian badminton. This tournament deserves all our attention", said Animona Hutu, the president of Romanian Badminton Federation on a press conference held on Tuesday.

"Through this tournament we wish to promote the sport of badminton among youngsters as well as our city in helping to obtain the title of European Capital of Culture in the near future", mentioned the president.

Luka Wraber of Austria and Beatriz Corrales (pictured) of Spain are the top seeds in the singles categories.

A photo contest will be organised on this purpose, with two sections one for professionals, one for amateurs. The photos will be published on the finals day, when a jury will decide the winners.
