BEC Centre of Excellence is currently undergoing progress, and head coach Jeroen van Dijk admits that the start of the project has been difficult.
Back in September 2017, Badminton Europe started a project to open a European high-peformance centre called BEC Centre of Excellence. Jeroen van Dijk, who is the head coach, tells that they are experiencing a lot of interest for the centre in Holbæk at the moment.
- It is going really well. It was very hard in the beginning, but now we have the structure ready and we also have a lot of players, who are showing interest in us and wants to visit us, says van Dijk and adds;
- At this moment, we have a group of 18 players that is training with us. We also have some scholarship players that are playing with us for 2-3 months.
Great partnerships have been important
Jeroen van Dijk also shares that the BEC Centre of Excellence has a growing partnership with the Danish badminton club, Solrød Strand.
- We are co-operating very well with Solrød Strand. They have sent players to participate in our training sessions, which gave us a strong training environment.
Not far away from winning a tournament
The goal for Jeroen van Dijk and the players is simple; they want to win a title in the near future. And van Dijk believes that it is actually possible to achieve.
- It is very different from player to player, but my goal is that we start to win some tournaments, and I also believe that we are very close to do it.
