Two-time Women’s Singles silver medallist from the last two European Championships, Kirsty Gilmour, is looking for another good performance this year in Huelva, Spain.
Another appearance in the final for Gilmour is definitely on the cards if building on a fantastic display at the World Championships 2017, reaching the quarter-finals in her home city of Glasgow, Scotland. As second seed, she would likely be meeting 1st seed Carolina Marin for the third time in a row, who would herself be playing in her home nation. Despite this, Gilmour is mindful that it will not be easy when saying
-I'm well aware of the quality of the competition this year so it's going to be tough from the start. But I'm really enjoying playing just now and I’m just looking to put in good performances.
Some of my best play
Gilmour will be coming into the tournament after securing a medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018. However, preparation has not all been plain sailing, as she explains
-This period has been intense for me with very little time for putting in a solid training block. Having said that, I think I managed to touch some of my best play at the recent Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, so I will be looking to reflect on that and utilise the good parts next week in Huelva.
