It was a short-lived day for the Europeans on day two at the Lingshui China Masters, as both England’s Wang Yuehang and Israel’s Misha Zilberman were defeated in the second round of the men’s singles.

Zilberman gave a strong performance against third seed Ihsan Maulana Mustofa from Indonesia. A tight first set saw both players looking well-matched. But when it came to the set-deciding points, it was Mustofa that prevailed 21-19 to take the opening set.

Set number two saw Zilberman fall away early on. Despite showing good fight, the Israeli could never claw back the deficit and suffered a tough straight set loss 21-19, 21-15.

Wang quickly seen off

Earlier in the day, England’s Wang Yuehang was comfortably seen off by Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Hsien 21-13, 21-8. It was always going to be a tough hill to climb, and it showed in the early stages of the match. Hsien never looked back and Wang was defeated in two easy sets.

Those two results means it’s the end of the European participation at this year’s Chinese Masters.
