Jacco Arends: Hitting the top 10 is our goal

Orleans Masters 2018 finished last week bringing new ranking positions for European players. 

Orleans Masters 2018 men’s doubles champions Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Emil Seidel (Germany) have moved five spots up to occupy position no. 33. 

Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith (England) have climbed one spot up to occupy position no. 21 on the mixed doubles world ranking list. Jacco Arends/Selena Piek (The Netherlands) are standing right after them – no. 22, as they advanced with one position.  

-I am satisfied with my ranking in mixed doubles. We have been climbing up ever since our injuries and we are not planning to stop here. Hitting the top 10 is our goal. For the coming period I’m aiming for a medal at the European Championships, Jacco Arends tells Badminton Europe.
Orleans stars climbing up

Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke has climbed five spots up on the men’s singles world ranking list, achieving his career-best ranking position - no. 33. The Dane reached into the finals at the Orleans Masters 2018 last week and lost to Mark Caljouw (The Netherlands) who is no. 36 this week, three spots up compared to last week. 

Semifinalist Lucas Claerbout (France) has moved four spots up, currently occupying position no. 61.


Quarterfinalist in the same tournament - Jan O Jorgensen has climbed 12 spots up to occupy position no. 64.  


Women’s singles advance

Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) has climbed three spots up to achieve her career-best result – no. 22 on the women’s singles world ranking list. 

Turkey’s Neslihan Yigit, who was seeded no. 1 in this week’s Finnish Open tournament, has climbed two spots up to occupy position no. 39. 

Linda Zetchiri (Bulgaria) has moved three spots up to occupy position no. 41.
