Danish women’s doubles pair Freja Ravn and Amalie Magelund are not names that roll off the tongue at BWF level tournaments. The Danish junior pair have been seen making a splash around the senior BEC circuit over the past year and this week in Orleans have began to make a name for themselves after progressing to the quarter finals today at the expense of Iris Tabeling and Kilasu Ostermeyer.

-The key for us in today’s game was to be a bit more aggressive in attack after loosing the second game. We gave them to many opportunities in the second game but we are happy the way we managed to turn that around to win the match.

Ravn and Magelund are in Orleans to enjoy the experience at this higher level but also to try and attempt to gather up some world ranking points ahead of an important goal later in the year.

-The world juniors are a big goal for us. The main aim is to try and secure a seeding for the worlds and some good matches here will help as well as given us the match practise against these senior pairs ahead of the worlds.

Blichfeldt building from All England experience

While Ravn and Magelund were winning on centre court in Orleans, Mia Blichfeldt (pictured above) was rattling off yet another impressive victory beating Ozge Bayrak in two games.

-It was not so easy out there even if the score says it. She is a fighter so I had to stay focused and be aware that she could come back at any time.

Appearing more relaxed and confident both on the court and in front of the media this week Blichfeldt was quick to point out that the All England experience helped her a lot.

-The attention I got at the all England was crazy. I went into the tournament more relaxed after spending some time away from the court with my family. Also then after my matches there was so much media attention that I become more comfortable with that side of the game which has also helped me to be more relaxed after.
