After a slow start on 2018 for Inoue and Kaneko from Japan, they have now reached the men’s doubles final at YONEX German Open after defeating Goh and Tan from Malaysia; 21-17, 18-21, 21-19.
2018 has brought first round loses to Inoue and Kaneko up until now. The Japanese pair lost in the first round earlier this year both at Malaysia Masters and the week after at Indonesia Masters. This spot in the final will so far be there best accomplishment this year.
The truly entertaining and well-played semifinal between Inoue/Kaneko and Goh/Tan was a highlight of the semifinals’ day at German Open. The German spectators enjoyed the 52 minutes of entertainment that lead to a Japanese victory after all.
The Malaysian semi-finalists, Goh and Tan, never finished their quarterfinal yesterday on Friday, due to a withdrawal from their Danish opponents Mads Pieler Kolding and Mads Conrad-Petersen.
- I have had problems with my hip and back since Monday evening this week so now the only right thing to do is to go back to Denmark and relax, Mads Conrad wrote on his Instagram.
Inoue and Kaneko’s opponents for the men’s doubles final of the HSBC BWF Super 300-tournament are; Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Fajar Alfian from Indonesia. A showdown where the Japanese are favourites on paper, leading their internal fight 3-0.
The men’s doubles final will be the last match of the day and will close the ball of the 2018 YONEX German Open.
