Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria were not able to succeed to the women’s doubles final at YONEX German Open.

Bulgaria’s first women’s doubles went on court facing Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota from Japan, who in the quarterfinal defeated Sara Thygesen and Maiken Fruergaard from Denmark.

The match did not carry the best start for the Stoevas and the Japanese got a quick lead to 11-3. The Bulgarians manage to catch up to them at 16-16, but from there the Fukushima and Hirota did not look back, taking the first game 21-18.

The second game had the same start, and the powerful, patient and controlling attack the Stoevas has shown all week was nowhere to be found in this part of the match. The match ends at 21-11, and Stoevas had to left the court without a ticket for the women’s doubles final.

German Open: Nøhr - We will use all the power we have left

- Feel very disappointed right now… Thank you for all the support this week, we will come back more strong, Gabriela Stoeva wrote on her Instagram after the match.

Last year, the Stoevas exited one stage earlier, in the quarterfinals, though to the same Japanese opponents.

Yuki Fukushima and Hirota advance to the women’s doubles which will be the first match of the day. The YONEX German Open finals will start from 12 PM (local time).
