Sara Thygesen and Maiken Fruergaard of Denmark beat Della Destiara Haris and Rizki Amelia Pradipta from Indonesia; 21-8, 14-21, 21-11, and will this Friday afternoon, take on the 3th seeded Japanese Yuki Fukoshima and Sayaka Hirota.

The Danes had their opponents under control in the first and third game, and Maiken explains why there were not able to win the match in two;

- I think that our lifts were very short and flat in the second game. We have it under control up until 11, but after that it’s like it got wilder and we wanted to do too much.

- Either we played too short or it went too far because we forgot to move our legs to fit with the right strokes. And that is basically what made the difference in this match.

Used to the ‘rollercoaster’
The experience of starting in a good place, working their way out of the bad feelings and finding their way back to what worked for then initially has been something that the women’s doubles feel they can take with them into the quarterfinal.

- We have experienced many matches now where we are playing a really great first game against pairs like this, and then we often end up losing it because of some dumb mistakes. And then we cannot come back in the second, because when we have hit a bad streak and we have trouble getting out of it again. So, it was a great experience that we actually worked our way out of the mess from the second game this time around, Fruergaard said with a smile.

- There is a lot of good pairs in this tournament, so we are taking one day at a time. And when we can’t predict the outcome of the matches because of many unseeded players who can end up winning it all. But so far so good, and we will go back and watch some videos for tomorrow, Thygesen said to Badminton Europe.
