Denmark’s Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen suffered a defeat to Japanese pair Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi, the current world no 3, to crash out of the Indonesia Masters on Saturday. The world number 2 duo lost 25-23, 15-21, 16-21 in the semi-finals of the 350.000 Dollars event in Jakarta.

The Danes won the first game 25-23, which left the Japanese Olympic gold medailist and the crowd shocked. But despite Juhl/Pedersen kicking into gear in the second game with a 6-2 lead, they were unable to stop Matsutomo/Takahashi who claimed it at 21-15. In the rubber-game the Asians dominated the match and advanced into the finals after 75 minutes of play. Their opponents in tomorrow's finals will be Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu of Indonesia.

The exciting semi-final was also a re-match of the Olympic gold medal match in 2016 when the Japanese won 21-19 in the third game scoring five points in a row.

In the women’s singles final, in-form Indian player Saina Nehwal will meet world number one Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan.

Home favourite Anthony Sinisuka Ginting booked his place in the men’s singles final in Jakarta as he beat Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan in three games. Ginting will face Japanese Kazumasa Sakai in Sunday’s final of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event.

Hosts Indonesia have a strong chance of success in doubles competitions, with three of their pairings having progressed.
