Line Kjærsfeldt is the only Dane in the women’s singles event to succeed for Thursday, where her team mate from the Danish league will be her opponent.

- Happy with my performance and as always a pleasure playing in Istora Senayan, such a great atmospheare from the indonesian crowd!, Kjærsfeldt wrote on her Facebook page.

- Tomorrow I will be up against Olympic champion and my team mate Carolina Marin. Ready for the challenge!

Line Kjærsfeldt found her way into the main draw, after France’s Delphine Lansac retired very early in the first game of their qualification.

Kirsty Gilmour of Scotland lost in a tough three game thriller to Fitriani Fitriani, and Beatriz Corrales of Spain crashed out against Jang Mi Lee. The winner of Kjærsfeldt vs Marin will be the only European women's singles in the quarter-final.

Big guns through to Round 2
It was mainly the seeded European players that found their way to the second round. Viktor Axelsen of Denmark is the ‘fresh’ champion from last week, but nevertheless, continued the streak by winning 21-13, 21-7 against a player from Chinese Taipei.

Unlike in Malaysia, most of the top five seeds are still in the tournament, as Chen Long and Son Wan Ho won their first matches earlier on Wednesday. The latter of the two won 24-22, 21-10 against Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, a player he has suffered a defeat to last year at French Open.

Axelsen will not be the only European men’s singles in the second round, as Brice Leverdez of France and Rasmus Gemke of Denmark also won their rounds on Wednesday.

Other seeded big guns such as Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen, Mads Pieler Kolding and Mads Conrad-Petersen, and, Ivan Sozonov and Vladimir Ivanov can also be found in the draw for round 2 on Thursday.
