Maria Bubucea works for the Moldavian Badminton Federation and will from 1 March begin a two-month internship at the Badminton Europe (BEC) office in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Member Structures Commission of Badminton Europe has a support programme called BASIS - Badminton Administrative Support and Information Sharing. The programme was created to help BEC’s Member Associations develop in the area of administration and aims to achieve this objective by providing multiple levels of support to them.

The BEC Intern Programme is one of the six support levels offered by BEC, and today Maria Bubucea was announced as the very first intern to join the BEC office.

- I think I can speak for the entire staff when I say that we look forward to welcoming Maria as our intern. She is young and ambitious, and I am sure that BEC, Maria, and her federation as well, will benefit from her working with us next year, said Jimmy Andersen BEC Senior Manager and assisting staff member for the Member Structures Commission.

It was hard to believe at first
Badminton Europe sent out invitations to all the Member Associations, and the members of the Member Structures commission chose the final candidate from all the applications.

- I was sure there were a lot of applicants that wanted to obtain this great opportunity to learn from BEC, which meant my chances were not so big, so I had to read the letter a few times before being ready to accept the fact that I got it.  When I finally realized that I was accepted I was extremely happy, the Moldavian explained.

- We have got to know Maria a little bit over the past year, where she has participated in some of our activities – i.e. presenting at our Members Forum in April, participating in Shuttle Time and World Academy of Sport courses, and not the least, through her participation as a Commission member in the Women in Badminton and Para-Badminton Commissions, Jimmy Andersen added, so I am certain that the Member Structures Commission has made a good decision in selected her as our intern.

- Bringing active contribution
Bubucea, 21, travels to Denmark in hopes of an unforgettable experience which will greatly improve her skills and abilities.

- Out of this internship I hope to gain work related experience and make the best out of working alongside the BEC staff by bringing active contribution in the daily work flow and the events’ organization, she said.

Bubucea, the BEC Board and all the new commission members gather in Copenhagen from 19-21 January 2018 for the first commission meetings of the year.
