The Danish men’s singles have named himself “the next one” and has now reached his third Superseries quarter-final.

Indian Open 2017, French Open 2017 and now also Hong Kong Open 2017. The Dane is moving closer and closer to scoring his first major Superseries title.

- I have been in a couple of semi-finals now and I want to take the next step to the final!, Antonsen said to Badminton Europe.

In the quarter-final earlier on Friday, Antonsen showed no mercy and got his revenge over Kazumasa Sakai in straight sets; 21-15, 21-13.

CL is motivated
The young Dane has not lost a set on his way to the semi-final up until now. But on Saturday, last week’s China Open winner, the former Olympic champion and two-time world champion, Chen Long waits.

- Today and the days before I have played fine, but I still feel like there is room for improvements. Tomorrow, I will have to find all my weapons to beat CL, who looks super sharp and motivated.

Hong Kong Open is the last scheduled Superseries tournament in 2017 other than the Superseries Finals in Dubai in December. And Antonsen must win the tournament in Hong Kong to maybe get a chance to qualify.

Danish duo is in the semi-final – again
Christinna Pedersen and Mathias Christiansen started their partnership this October and have reached their semi-finals for the third successive Superseries.

The Russian men’s doubles Ivanov and Sozonov lost to Liu and Li from China; 24-22, 21-11 in the men’s doubles quarter-final.

Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding from Denmark will therefore be the last Europeans to play for a spot in the semi-finals in men’s doubles.
