The BWF/BE Level 1-Tutors’ Course was held in Medvode, Slovenia in the period 26 - 28 October 2012. This has already been a second course of its kind in Europe as the first one was held in Belgium earlier this year. The course has been directed by the BWF/BE expert Joann Hughes from England, and organized by Badminton Europe and the good organizational help of Slovenian Badminton Federation.

Jo, as she normally introduce herself to the people, had been a great mentor to the 14 participants from Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. The course was very intense as there were quite some theory and the practical exercises to be covered in a good two days of the course. The first day participants mostly spent in the classroom, going through the theoretical part of the literature available. Days 2 and 3 were held in the hall, where the 2 courts were used for the practical session, while the “on-go” classroom had been built on the third court.

Having a “classroom” of that kind on the side of the two courts was a great idea, as that made it easier for the participants to combine the theory with the practical part of the course.

Generally speaking, the participants showed a great enthusiasm and were very eager to learn as much as possible. They spent 9-10 hours on the course the first two days, and the 4 hours on the last day of the course.
The participants that successfully passed the course will be the new BWF/BE Level 1 Tutors. For the future, they will be able to organize the Level 1 Coach Courses in their own countries.

Badminton Europe, in cooperation with BWF, plan to organize another course of this kind in 2013.
