Next year, 53 European teams will compete to be the best men's & women's teams on the continent.
53 European teams are going to Kazan

2018 holds BWF’s Thomas Cup and Uber Cup, and the European teams are gathering in Kazan (Russia) from 13-18 February 2018 to qualify.

The deadline for entering the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships (EMWTC18) surpassed on 21 November and Badminton Europe can finally announce the entries.

29 men’s teams and 24 women’s teams have entered the European championships, which means that only these nations will have a chance to qualify for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup, organized from 20-27 May, in Bangkok (Thailand).

Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg entered a men’s team each, while Belarus and Sweden entered only a women’s teams each. 

The list of European countries that have entered in both categories are: Ireland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Spain, Estonia, France, Germany, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine.


Additional five teams
The 2016 edition was hosted in the same venue, Kazan Gymnastics Center, but this year the tournament will be without nations such as Netherlands, Switzerland, Scotland, Slovenia.

But countries like Latvia, Portugal, Israel, Azerbaijan, Greenland, Luxembourg has announced their arrival instead. The 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships will in total have additional five teams in total, compared to back in 2016.

The event will be organized alongside the 2018 European U15 Championships also hosted by the National Badminton Federation of Russia, in the city of Kazan.

The next key dates for the #EMWTC18 will be the seeding which will be published on 29 November, made from the BWF ranking on 23 November. Followed by that, on Tuesday 5 December, Badminton Europe will conduct a live draw on Youtube.
