Glasgow will for the next days host BWF’s Grand Prix tournament Scottish Open in the very same arena as the 2017 BWF TOTAL World Championships.

- I never take an opportunity to play in Glasgow for granted.. Especially the Emirates Arena. It holds a lot of great memories for me, Kirsty Gilmour tells Badminton Europe.

Scotland’s very own Kirsty Gilmour played at the Emirates Arena earlier this year in August for the BWF Total World Championships 2016, she is excited to be back for the 2017 Scottish Open.

- My preparation has been pretty good. I’ve had a few good weeks of training after some sickness last month, but I’m back on track now!

Lansac in R1
Gilmour faces Delphine Lansac from France in the first round, a match that Gilmour knows will require a good performance to get past her.

- Of course it was always nice to be seeded 1 but it comes with pressure. So, I’ll have to line up my expectations carefully and not ahead of myself.

- So, for now I’ll be concentrating on the match in front of me.

COE players in action
Felix Burestedt from Sweden, Zvonimir Durkinjak from Croatia and Iikka Heino from Finland have all taken the trip from Badminton Europe’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Holbæk to the Scottish capital to compete in men’s singles.

- My preperations have been really good until I just sprained my ankle a little bit, a couple of days ago. But hopefully it will not affect my game, Burestedt says to Badminton Europe.

Furthermore, a more local COE player, Toni Woods is teaming up with Jack Macgreagor in mixed doubles where they hope to make it into through the qualifications on Wednesday.
