The 18th edition of the Slovenian Junior & Youth International had more than 250 entries from 10 different countries in the age groups U11, U13, U15 and BJEC U19. In four playing days, the young badminton players showed an excellent performance.

The biggest surprise of the tournament were the young Dutch players, who won three out of five titles. Alex Vlaar won the boys’ singles event; Cheryl Seinen won the girls doubles together with Imke van der Aar and the mixed doubles with Ruben Jille. Martina Repiska of Slovakia proved to be the best in girls’ singles category.

But the home crowd was happy to see a victory in the boys’ doubles event as Slovenian Mitja Semrov, member of the local organizer club BC Mirna, took the title. He was playing together with Simon Rebhandl of Austria who later wrote on his Facebook wall: “Winner of the Slovenian Junior International! :) Fantastic run! It was a great weekend and an amazing feeling with the support of the crowd! Thank you all!
