Milan Ludik (Czech Republic) who trains at the Centre of Excellence, has progressed to quarter finals at the Morocco International.

Milan is third seeded in men’s singles and won two matches today. In the first round he had a quite easy match against Aatish Lubah from Mauritius. His second round match against Belgian Rowan Scheurkogel was somewhat harder, but he also managed to win that one.

Milan will face injury recovered Ernesto Velazquez (Spain) in quarter finals. Besides his already tough opponent, the conditions in Morocco are also difficult Milan tells Badminton Europe. ‘It is very important to stay mentally strong’ Milan commented. Despite the circumstances, Milan is enthusiastic about his next match. ‘I am looking forward to this challenge and hope to show my good performance.

Matej Hlinican makes attempt for men’s doubles final

Other CoE-player Matej Hlinican (Slovakia, pictured above; photo by Mark Phelan) had also difficulties with the play conditions. He lost his first round in men’s singles to Birger Abts (Belgium). ‘I think I was pretty even with my opponent. He was just more prepared for this kind of game in the head, that made a difference’ Matej commented after his match to Badminton Europe.

Matej is still in the game in men’s doubles. He plays with fellow country man Milan Dratva. They had an easy win in first round against a French pair. ‘I hope we can make it into the final’ Matej commented.
