Badminton Europe could this morning announce the seedings for the 2017 European U17 Championships, where the French hope Christo Popov tops the men’s singles list.

Popov had a successful World Junior Championships in Yogyarta, Indonesia, this October and can now play in Prague, Czech Republic as the no. 1 seeded for the European U17 title.

Also, the Frenchman has earned himself a no. 3 seeding in men’s doubles with partner Kenji Lovang, as Bartosz Galazka and Maciej Matusz from Poland occupy the top seeding position in that category.

Hungarian power
Vivien Sándorházi from Hungary holds the spot as the best seeding in women’s singles. She explains to Badminton Europe that the seeding has a positive effect on her confidence, but, also, that she is making sure she will not be too confident.

- I’m excited and can't wait to be there. I expect a good performance from myself, and I mean it for the quality of my game, not the result. I'm going with the same thoughts I had for the European U15 championships, I'd like to take home a medal, as bright as I can.

Anastasiia Putinskaia of Russia and Anastasiya Prozorova of Ukraine follow right after her seeded, respectively, 2 and 3. But fellow Hungarian, Kitti Szotak, keeps Sándorházi company in the top five, as she comes in as no. 4.

Sándorházi is also participating in women’s doubles with Vlada Gynga from Moldova, where the pair are seeded 6th. The Turkish duo Bengisu Ercetin and Zehra Erdem have a comfortable lead on the European U17 ranking and will be seeded to win the European U17 Championships.

Next up: Draws
The next key date for BEC’s U17 championships is for the draws, which will be conducted and published on 7 November 2017 at 1 PM CET.

The tournament itself will commends on 21-29 November 2017 in the Czech capital, Prague.
