A winning start for Linda Efler and Marvin Emil Seidel in front of a home crowd.
The German pair kick started the third day of the Bitburger Open in the mixed doubles where they were up against Danish pair Mikkel Mikkelsen and Mai Surrow.
They got themselves the victory winning in two games, 21-14 and 21-17.
However speaking to Badminton Europe post-match, Efler said:
“It wasn’t the best that we played, but now the first step in this tournament is done.”
Despite feeling that their performance wasn’t their best,she said she was ‘very happy’ about winning the match.
Along with other matches throughout the day, this mixed pair are out again this evening in a tough match against the pair ranked number seven seeds in this tournament. Ronan Labar and Audrey Fontaine of France.
Looking ahead to the game Efler said:
“We are ready for the match in the evening, it will be tough because they have shown their good form in the last tournaments, but we will fight and give the best in front of our home crowd.”
Efler also features in the Women’s Doubles later on in the day where she will be hoping to seal another victory in front of her home crowd. However she is up against tough opponents, Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria who are ranked number one seeds in this tournament.
Her mixed partner Seidel also features in the men’s doubles later in the day in a tough match against the number one seeds in this tournament. Chen Hung Ling and Wang Chi-Lin from Taipei.
