The new BWF Junior World Ranking list, from 26 October, revealed that a European men’s singles has advanced into the top 10.

Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen has jumped eight spots from number 16 and up to number 8, last week. His results as the best ranked European men’s singles in the world is a great achievement for him;

- I am happy to reach no. 8 in the world which is my highest ranking, but I am aiming to push for top 5 and then maybe even number 1, Nguyen tells Badminton Europe.

- I think my recent form is down to my relaxed approach to my games. I'm beginning to see the aspects I've been working on in training coming in to my game in competitions which I'm pleased with.

World Junior Dreams
The recent tournament in Yogyarta, Indonesia, has earned the 17-year-old Irish no more than 3,300 points. Nguyen hopes to be able to continue his performance and make progress to obtain his future goals.

-  I am quite satisfied with my performance in Yogyakarta , I played some good and bad badminton but overall I can take a lot of positives going forward from this experience.

- I hope to keep progressing on the Senior Circuit and win medals at European and world juniors next year as well as the Youth Olympics.
