On the third day of the Yonex French Open, English mixed doubles pair Ben Lane and Jessica Pugh pulled off a massive win.

They were up against Hong Kong pair Tang Chun Man and TseYing Suet.

Lane and Pugh lost the first set 13-21, but came back with everything they had to win the final two sets comfortably, 21-14 and 21-16.

Speaking after the match, an excitable Ben Lane told Badminton Europe:

“We started off very slow and passive and I think we let the occasion get the better of us in the first match.”

But as the results show, something clicked for them in the second game.

“We turned it around quickly and both said to each other if we don’t step up then this will be over quickly.”

Their determination has got them through this match against very tough opponents.

Speaking on the result he said:

“We are very pleased as it’s our first time in a superseries quarter final, we have played the world number ones twice before and challenged them both times so we feel like it’s third time lucky to get the win.”
