A Danish showdown occurred for the second time in a row on the Superseries tour. This Friday at Japan Open, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen played, once again, against Mads Pieler Kolding and Mads Conrad-Petersen.

Boe and Mogensen, who has seemed unbeatable the last two weeks, kept the affair to two sets; 21-17, 21-19.

- We get better out of the service situations, and therefore maintain the pressure on them. It is always a very tactical battle when we are playing each other, Mathias Boe tells Badminton Europe.

- And once more, it was the small margins that settled it today.

The rematches continue
Gideon and Sukamuljo from Indonesia follow lasts weeks promising result and are the semi-final opponents for the Danes on Saturday.

- We are very tired from last week. But we are still playing with high quality which makes it hard to beat us.

The semi-final on Saturday will therefore be a return of the men’s doubles final at Korea Open, which ended in Danish favor; 21-19, 19-21, 21-15.

Axelsen keeps momentum
Even though, Danish Viktor Axelsen is playing his first tournament since winning the World Championships, he is not slowing down. Axelsen will face world no. 1 Son Wan Ho in the semi-final on Saturday.

Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov from Russia are also ready for the semi-finals, after defeating Kamura/Sonoda; 24-26, 22-20, 21-19. The Russians have only played three set-matches in the tournament so far.

And last but not least, former world champion, Carolina Marin of Spain, will get her hands full with the new world champion and local favorite, Nozomi Okuhara, in the women’s singles semi-final.
