Linda Efler and mixed doubles partner Marvin Emil Seidel is in their first Superseries quarter-final.

Friday’s quarter-finals at Korea Open will be a first for the German pair. Efler and Seidel entered the tournament at the top of the draw and took their first-round win in two sets, on Tuesday.

- Yesterday, was a really close match, Efler tells Badminton Europe about their match in the first round.

- But in the end, we were able to attack the net a bit earlier.

The net game made the difference
Thursday’s opponent was the Japanese duo Kenta Kazuno and Ayane Kurihara. 40 minutes on court was all the time Efler and Seidel needed to make it to the quarter-finals.

The wind in the hall also played a role for their performance, which meant they had to play flat and to the net:

- Today, we were really strong in the service situation. We were really concentrating on that and to attack the net quite early, because playing a lift was really difficult with the wind. We could manage it really good by playing flat and to the net.

Many firsts
Efler and Seidel can not only enjoy their first quarter-final at Superseries-level, but their first victory on this level.

- For us, these two matches are our first wins ever at a Superseries in mixed doubles and we feel really great about having the chance to play tomorrow in this hall.

- We are happy about reaching this but the tournament is not over. Let’s see how we can manage the match against the Malaysians.
