BC Chambly Oise of France have taken one step closer to fulfilling their Euro dream as they blasted past Primorye Vladivostok to set up a repeat of the 2016 final which will be an all French affair.

Chambly wasted little energy in their earlier quarter final defeating Deltacar Benatky of Czech Republic before coming through in commanding fashion against the most successful team in recent years, the Russian champions.

Robert Mateusiak & Nadia Zieba showed glimpses of the top form to get the ball rolling for Chambly taking a very tense opening mixed doubles beating Vladimir Ivanov and Ekaterina Bolotova. The Poles took the opening match in two games which was to prove inspirational for the French.

Eetu Heino, who joined Chambly this year, proved a revelation this week and he maintained his 100% tournament record beating Sergai Sirant in two games to leave the Russians with their backs to the wall.

In the women’s singles Beatriz Corrales looked to have everything under control for the French leading by 1 game and 17-12 up in the second. Anastasia Semenova was not about to roll over and die and the young Russian made a remarkable comeback to take the second game and take the women’s singles into a deciding set.

In the third game the Russian had the upper hand early on leading 6-4 but it was Corrales who went into the interval with a 11-10 lead. At 15-15 the match was finely balanced but a series of errors from the Russian was like an open invitation for Corrales and the Spanish ace took the match 21-17 to send Chambly into the European final.

IMBC92 Keep title defence alive

Defending champions, Issy Les Moulineaux of France (pictured above), kept their title defence firmly on track after a pair of well executed wins in both today’s quarter final and semi finals. The French outfit wasted no time seeing of Club Sports da Madeira in the first quarter final of the day to be the first team to guaranteed themselves a medal at this year’s championships.

The French had a tricky semi final in the form of local hosts Calvi Network BC Milano. The first two matches were divided to leave the score at 1-1. The men’s doubles third match was always going to be crucial for the Italians if they had desires on the overall tie going down to the deciding fifth match.

Maddaloni and Putro looked to be in control when they took the opening set against Issy pair Heriau and Riancho. But the French were quick to steadied the ship and came back to win in three games which all but sealed the fate of Milano.

In what was a formality Stefani & Gabriela Stoeva strolled to the following women’s doubles win which gave the champions the 3 points needed to advance to the final.
