China’s third seeds Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen beat second seeds Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark in three games 21-19, 19-21, 21-18 in today’s BCA Indonesia Open Superseries (1 Million Dollar) finals.

It was a dramatic match with many ups and downs. Former European Champions Boe and Mogensen - who constantly received boos from the Indonesian spectators during the whole tournament - would have been the first men’s doubles champions from a non-Asian country in the long history of the Indonesia Open. So the title wait goes on …

„We gave it our best out there today, but Li/Liu were too good, credit to them. Now we are going home to rest and have some holiday, before we start preparing for World Championships in August“, the duo wrote on their official Facebook page.

In the men’s singles, Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth claimed his first ever Indonesia Open Superseries title after defeating Japanese qualifier Kazumasa Sakai in an impressive win. He only needed 37 minutes to overcome Sakai in two straight games 21-11, 21-19.

In the women's singles, Sayaka Sato of Japan won her first ever title in a Super Series event after defeating World's No. 5, Sung Ji-Hyun of Korea 21-13, 17-21, 21-19.

Meanwhile in the mixed doubles category, Olympic champions Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia won the only title for the home country in the tournament after defeating China's Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen 22-20, 21-15.

European players in Jakarta:

Former European Champion Jan Ø. Jørgensen celebrated his comeback after an injury in Jakarta and reached the second round where he lost to the eventual champion Srikanth in three games. Jørgensen’s compatriot Viktor Axelsen suffered a loss in the opening round to former European Junior Champion Emil Holst.

Olympic Champion Carolina Marin - seeded second in Indonesia - lost to Chen Xiaoxin of China 21-12, 10-21, 22-20  in the first round of the World Premier Superseries tournament.

In the mixed doubles, both Chris Adcock/Gabby Adcock of England and Mathias Christiansen/Sara Thygesen (Denmark) reached the quarter-finals stage.

The finals results:
