Tomorrow in the city of Clermont-Ferrand (France) will start the first ever European Badminton School Championships.

In close cooperation with the ISF (International School Federation), Badminton Europe will provide a support for the organization and will provide a live broadcasting for the whole event.

From 16th to 21st of June, secondary school pupils from all over Europe (12 countries) will compete in two different competition: a mixed school team competition and a mixed ”selection” (national teams) team competition.

Each team match will be composed of 5 events taking place in the following order:

One women single (the event ends when one team has scored 21 points)

One men single (the event ends when one team has scored a further 21 points, making a total of 42 points)

One women double (the event ends when one team has scored a further 21 points, total of 63 points)

One men double (the event ends when one team has scored a further 21 points, total of 84 points)

One mixed double (the first team to score a total of 105 points will then win the match).

An interesting new scoring system which will for sure enhance the motivation of the pupils in cheering for their team.

On top of this great sport event, a lot of other activities and experiences will take place on sight. The ISF organization put a lot of efforts in promoting the ”education through sport”; thus the event will give the opportunity to young pupils to take part in it through different tasks. They will be able to be part of the organization team (installation of the hall, welcoming and guiding the participants, being interpreter…), to perform during the opening and the closing ceremony (dance, circus…), or even to help on the media coverage (interviews, photos…). A great valuable experience giving the chance to young kids to be involved in a big event.

Badminton Europe would like to wish good luck to all the 12 team participating: Russia, Latvia, Scotland, Romania, Greece, Georgia, Germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, France, Sweden, Czech Republic.

You will be able to follow the live broadcasting of the different part of the competition, starting with:
