Badminton Europe are proud to announce that Jeroen van Dijk has accepted the role as Head Coach of the BEC Centre of Excellence in Holbæk. The Centre of Excellence will start 1 September 2017 and BEC is currently recruiting 2 Assistant Coaches. Next to this Peter R. Jensen and other locally based coaches will be involved in the training.

Jeroen van Dijk, was a former top 10 World Ranking men’s singles player from the Netherlands.  Following the end of his career he started a coaching role culminating with being national coach of the German Badminton Association from 2005-2012.

In 2012, Jeroen van Dijk took on a role as Development manager of  Badminton Europe where his main responsibilities have been in the areas of ‘Sport for All’ and ‘High Performance’ where he worked with projects like BWF’s Shuttle Time, Coach Education and BEC’s annual Summer School.

“Jeroen has a wealth of experience when it comes to coaching European badminton talents. It is a great advantage that he has been one of the best players in the world and knows what it takes to reach world class level in badminton. Next to that his years in the Badminton Office has given him administrative tools which will also benefit him in his new role.” says Brian Agerbak, General Secretary of Badminton Europe.

“I strongly believe that Jeroen van Dijk is the ideal candidate to lead the BEC Centre of Excellence and to provide a World Class set up for the players that decide to pursue their dreams with this Badminton Europe initiative. We do believe that we can lift up the level of the sub-elite in Europe and create greater competition which should benefit the European badminton community in general.”

This February, Badminton Europe announced that the BEC Centre of Excellence would be hosted in Holbæk, Denmark who were successful with their bid against 9 other contenders. A cooperation with the municipality of Holbæk, Stenhus Gymnasium and Holbaek Sportscenter has been formed in order to establish a world class training environment for the BEC Centre of Excellence.

21 players have been invited to a selection camp in Holbæk, which starts this Monday 1 May 2017. The newly appointed Head Coach is organizing a camp where BEC will make the first selections for players to train full time in Holbæk.
