Denmark's Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen are heading for their title defence at the 2012 Yonex All-England Championships after having reached the semifinals of the prestigious Premier Superseries event. The current world number three pair beat 5th seeds Chai/Guo of China 21-12, 21-19. The Danes will face Korea's Lee Yong Dae and Jung Jae Sung. 

Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier's magical run at the Yonex All England Championships came to an end tonight after another gripping three-game battle at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena. And within an hour of their exit, Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork also failed in their bid to reach the last four of the mixed doubles in his last All England before retirement.

On the day when Anglo-Scottish pair Adcock and Bankier received the Badminton Writers' Association Player of the Year Award, they just could not get the better of Malaysians Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying in their mixed doubles quarter-final clash.

The world silver medallists lost the opening game 21-16 but once again hit back to level the contest by taking the second game just as they did against world champions Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei in the first round and against Yoo Yeon Seong and Jang Ye Na of Korea in last night's second round. Their opening win took 66 minutes and their second-round triumph took 59 minutes. And last night's was another lengthy affair before the Malaysians ran out 21 after 55 minutes.

In the decider they went 3-0 down and were never able to reel in the Malaysians, who won on their second match point with a 21-16 15-21 21-17 scoreline. That left Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork, Adcock and Bankier's rivals in the Olympic qualifying race, as the last home hopes. They lost a close first game 21-19 against fourth seeds Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir in the next match on court.

The Commonwealth silver medallist roared back in the second game, dictating play to take it  21-14 with Robertson celebrating with typical exuberance in trying to get the crowd behind him and his partner. But the Indonesians started the decider strongly and steadily built a healthy lead before taking the contest 21-6 after 55 minutes.
