Stefani and Gabriela Stoeva, the world no 13 duo, were defeated in the Yonex Swiss Open (120.000 US Dollars) final by China’s top seeds Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (CHN) yesterday, going down 16-21, 15-21 in a competitive match that lasted 37 minutes.

Despite the defeat, it has been a very successful tournament for the Bulgarian sisters, who live and train in the French city of Paris, at the Basel Grand Prix Gold tournament. The Stoevas will climb a few spots - from position 13 - in the BWF world rankings.

Lin Dan took his third Swiss Open title

The fifth Grand Prix gold event of the year saw no. 1 seed Lin Dan clinch another Yonex Swiss Open title with a 21-12, 21-11 victory over Shi Yuqi, the no. 2 seed, in the final on Sunday. It was re-match of the Yonex All-England Open semifinals a few days ago, when the young Chinese Yuqi beat his older compatriot in two games to reach the final of the 600.000 Dollars event in Birmingham.

In mixed doubles, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai won the title, defeating Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto of Indonesia.

China’s Chai Biao and Hong Wei won the men’s doubles title, defeating their compatriots Liu Cheng and Zhang Nan.

In the women’s singles final, China’s Chen Xiaoxin beat her collegue Chen Yufei 21-19, 21-14.
