The last couple of months, Badminton Europe has been promoting the newest high performance-initiative; BEC Centre of Excellence. Finally, we have reached the closing date for applications to the Pre-Selection Camp that will be held on December 5-9, 2017.

Badminton Europe is delighted to announce that the number of applicants for the Pre-Selection Camp has been to great satisfaction, reaching 58 players.

The number of applicants came from 23 different countries, indicating that this project is receiving a lot of attention and anticipation from many of our Member Associations.

We work determined towards creating the best and most professional surroundings for our future high performance-players, and to receive this amount of support is something we do not take for granted.

Within the next couple of days, the players who have been selected for the Pre-Selection Camp will receive their final invitation.

The camp will take place in Vejen, Denmark, on December 5-9. This will be the first pre-selection camp out of three. The second and third are planned for the first half of 2017.

A final selection of players for the BEC Centre of Excellence will be confirmed in May 2017 and will be effective from September 1st, 2017. Player selection and the final composition of the squad will be decided at the discretion of BEC.

The ‘BEC Centre of Excellence’ is an exciting project for Badminton Europe, and it is with great excitement that we commence into the final process of selecting players, and coaches.

With this centre and through collaboration, we wish to strengthen national training centres and the general high performance-setup across Europe; and in time improve Europe’s competitiveness in world badminton.
