European players reach US Open Quarterfinals in El Monte, California. The ‘road to Rio’ is almost coming to an end, and many European players use this last period of time to prepare for the honorary filled event; some more successfully than others.

Danish Men’s Double Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen are in greater time constraints than usual, due to Mogensen’s ruptured aortic aneurysms in his brain during the European Men's Team Championship in Kazan in February. An unbelievable recovery has made it possible for him to be back on court, and US Open is a step for the Danish constellation to be fully ready for the Olympics. After a close 3rd set (22/20) against Shimada/Takeuchi (JPN), they are through to Saturday’s quarterfinals. In the other end of the draw, we find the Polish constellation Adam Cwalina/Przemyslaw Wacha who, after two easy wins, face Dong/Yakura from Canada.

In Men’s Singles, Spain’s Pablo Abian is on a roll. After a reaching the quarters in Canada Open last week, he has managed to so in the US Open as well. Misha Zilberman (IRS) lost in the first round in Canada, but is back for more. If both Europeans succeed to the Final, they will be facing each other.

Chloe Magee (IRL) has a busy weekend ahead of her if she manages to go through to the Semi’s in both Women’s Single, and Mixed Double with Sam Magee. Linda Zetchiri (BUL) can be the end for Magee in single’s, as the two fellow Europeans face each other in one of the quarters. Delphine Lansac (FRA) will most likely be facing last week’s winner in Canada, Michelle Li (CAN), if she makes it through her Quarter in the other half.

It was a close 3-setter in the first round for Clara Nistad/Emma Wengberg (SWE) last week. But this week the girls are up for the Quarters, as the only European constellation in Women’s Doubles this far.

Lastly, another European Mixed Double has made it to Friday’s quarters; Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Zieba (POL) can look forward to a tournament without 1st seeds Chris and Gabby Adcock (ENG).
