The 2016 BEC Summer School is in exactly 3 days, and the final preparations are in full action. It is the 3rd time that Podčetrtek Sports Hall is hosting the Summer School, and BEC is very excited to welcome the 54 players from our member associations to this year’s 35th edition.

Glancing at the schedule for the participating players at the BEC Summer School 2016, it looks very monotonous. But there is more to it than the eye can see. The players at the Summer Schools are a vital part of a bigger whole that is: to improve and enhance badminton in Europe. They are doing so not only by training and improving individually, but also by enhancing the international relations between them.

Just like the coaches, the players will arrive on Saturday July 9 around 16:00 and attend an opening information session for all the participants, and depart Sunday July 16 at 8:30. Training sessions will occur every day at 8:30-15:00, intermitted by a 1-hour lunch at 12:00. After dinner at 18:00, fun and games is on the schedule daily to ensure that the players create personal relations and get a break from the serious training sessions. During the evenings every second day, different badminton games will be arranged. Monday evening offers a dip in a relaxing hot pool, Wednesday will besides the trip to ‘Aqua Luna’ be about the ‘Coaches vs. Players’ football match, and Friday will not exist of any training but an all-day individual tournament for the players to compete against each other. Ultimately, there will be festivities in form of a closing party at 19:00 to mark the end of the camp.

High Quality

The attending players consist of upcoming U17 European talents at national level from: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Poland, Scotland, Slovenia, Serbia, Slovakia, and Sweden. This emphasizes the insurance of a high quality training. Besides being provided with new ideas and insights from the training sessions, this Summer School will enhance the participation of players and coaches of the developing nations in Europe and the activities of Badminton Europe. In one week we achieve training young player talent and educating their future coaches; all in the good of European badminton reaching its fullest potential.
