World and European Champion Carolina Marin (pictured) and China's star smasher Wang Yihan will meet again in the semifinals of the Indonesia Open Superseries on Saturday, a rematch of this year's Malaysia Open quarter-finals won by the Asian. The winner will face either Wang Shixian or Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan.

Top-seeded Marin defeated Saina Nehwal (India) in straight games 24-22, 21-11 to make it to the semis of a Superseries event for the second time of the year. Nehwal, the London Olympic bronze medallist, who has won the Indonesia Open title three times in the past, failed to breach the defence of the Spanish superstar. In the second game, the top seed and last year's All England champion dominated right from the start and kept distancing herself from the Indian to comfortably advance to the last four stage of the 900.000 Dollars event.

Selena Piek and Eefje Muskens (The Netherlands) beat locals Nuraidah/Pradipta10-21, 24-22, 25-23 in more than 70 minutes to reach their first Superseries semifinal. They will play Japanese duo Matsumoto/Takahashi, the number one seeds,  next, who beat Huang/Tang of China in the other quarter-final.

"We can't believe what just happened", the duo wrote on their official Twitter accounts.

Former European Champion Jan O Jorgensen beat local hope Jonathan Christie in three games to keep his title hopes alive. The Dane, who won this tournament in 2013, will face Chinese shuttler Tian Houwei.

The Danish men's doubles pairs of Mads Conrad/Mads Kolding and Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup have both qualified for the semifinals. Kolding and Conrad will face Chai/Hong while Astrup and Skaarup Rasmussen will play world number one duo Lee Yong dae and Yoo Yeon Seong of Korea. 

Rajiv Ouseph's fine men's singles form at the Indonesian Open ended at the quarter-final stages in Jakarta on Friday, as England's number one lost out to home hope Ihsan Maulana Mustofa.

Ouseph, the world number 15, missed out on his first semi-final of the year as Mustofa won 21-17, 12-21, 12-21 in the $900,000 World Superseries Premier event at the Istora Stadium.

Having battled through two successive three-game encounters already this week, Ouseph took the opener as he thwarted a late charge from Mustofa.

The European medallist then carved open a 10-6 lead, but a run of seven straight points in front of a partisan crowd lifted Mustofa into a deciding game.

Mustofa then took his form into the third and accrued an eight-point winning run from 10-9 up to effectively end Ouseph's bid.

Mustofa, the world number 29 who is enjoying a superb week, is likely to be the lowest ranked player in Saturday's semi-finals after his 56-minute win.

The 2016 BCA Indonesia Open Superseries kicked off on Monday and will last until Sunday.
