Badminton Europe Confederation (BEC) has closed a long-term co-operation agreement with the sportsman media group on exclusive, worldwide media rights in connection with the European Championships.

The agreement covers worldwide media rights for the European Badminton Championships. In 2016, this will include the “European Men´s & Women´s Team Championships” in Russia (16.-21.02.2016), as well as the “European Individual Championships” in France (26.04.-01.05.2016). Both events are of significant importance in connection with the qualification towards the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where the badminton competition is played 11.-20.08.2016.

In 2017, the agreement will include the media rights of the “European Mixed Team Championships” in Poland (15.-19.02.2017) as well as the “European Individual Championships” in Denmark (25.-30.04.2017). Marketing and promotional activities are to be carried out in close co-operation with the sportsman media group.

Thomas Krohne, CEO of the sportsman media group: “We are pleased that BEC has placed its trust in us. Badminton is a fascinating sport, being fast, dynamic and therefore very telegenic. Our aim is, together with BEC, to generate a significant increase in exposure for the European Championships, both in Europe and in Asia. These two continents are the most important core markets for this sport.”

Gregory Verpoorten, President of BEC: “Having the sportsman media group to represent our worldwide media rights from our future major events is a significant step for BEC, and for badminton in Europe. With this agreement with sportsman, we will get important expertise at our side, which guarantees BEC and badminton an important exposure throughout the world. The sportsman has acted very professionally in connection with the contractual agreements with us, and we have full confidence, that our future co-operation will indeed be beneficial for all parties – and most importantly, for our sport.”
